Founded in 2018 by a group of educated, dynamic and like-minded youth working in the development sector, who got together to establish the organization, for addressing the most urgent and pressing needs of the people of South Sudan. Due to this spirit, the organization was named Social and Educational Development Agency (SEDA), because we believe “Educational is not just about career development, but also about character development.”

SEDA aims to serve the community in terms of Social, economic, educational, environmental, socio-promotional activities that enhance community empowerment, cultural diversity, continuous learning, capacity building and to build a good socially responsible society. We aim to look for the development of the rural poor, empower them towards their sustainability.

Our work within Juba and other parts in the country is create education system that responds to the needs of the people we serve.

Improving the health of the nation’s women, men and children is core to our mission. Good health provides the foundation for community and economic development. Health is complex and multidimensional.

We seek to understand what people need to be healthy and to generate the evidence needed to address their health challenges.

Reproductive Health and HIV Prevention is our core under the health cluster which entails the following important features for development.

We integrate a gender perspective into development programs to improve outcomes and increase equality among girls, boys, women and men. Effective gender strategies transform unequal norms and behaviors, empower women and girls and engage men and boys as partners and agents of positive social change.

Good nutrition is a cornerstone of well-being, particularly in the first 24 months of life. It provides a key foundation for maximizing human potential and national development. We partner with UN agencies, INGOs and funders to design strategies, policies, programs and systems that address nutrition emergencies and create sustainable change.

There are more young people with ages 12 – 24 living in South Sudan today and their hopes to complete a quality education, live healthy lives, support themselves and their families and become fully active citizens are the challenges of human development. Our programs work to address the needs of today’s youth, with the understanding that they will be tomorrows leaders.

We are committed to developing sustainable solutions to environmental protection, community-based natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, agricultural production and energy conservation challenges as well as the social, environmental and economic impacts of climate change.

SEDA has developed an array of peace-building programs, initiatives and campaigns to foster peace and reconciliation in disadvantaged and fragile communities in the different regions of the nation. Working in close cooperation with international organizations, civil society, grassroots organizations, and a network of experts, we promote youth empowerment, cultural diversity, continuous learning, capacity building. Our projects include on-the ground programs combining Conflict Resolution Education, life and wellness skills, broadcast series, social events as well as awareness campaigns.

We meet the urgent needs of people whose lives are jeopardized by conflict, disaster or displacement. We use multifaceted programs integrate lifesaving health care, psychosocial support, safe water sources and nutritional assistance to people affected by crises.

We use innovative communication and social marketing to promote positive social and behavior change among individuals, systems and communities. We also develop strategies that address the interests of the people we are trying to reach, the obstacles to taking action and the many forces that influence behavior and choice.

SEDA uses the multiplying effect of innovative and basic technology to further the impact of everything we do. Information and communication technology helps us make and expand connections to build and sustain relationships. We use technology (Video cameras) to increase access to information, to improve practice and facilitate interaction among many stakeholders.
